Facebook rolls out real-time ticker

Word on the social street is that Facebook is in the process of rolling out a new live “ticker” to our news feed pages. The feed will apparently pull from the “most recent” feed and will be a real-time report of friend activity. Some people may like the opportunity to quickly view all friend activity coming across their page rather than just what Facebook thinks they are interested in. I haven’t yet experienced the new ticker on my page but am interested to see how it is going to work and if I will like. I fear it may be just another distraction but we shall see.

According to Digital Trends, the ticker will be an unfiltered flow of news shows actions such as comments, like clicks, new friend connections, photo uploads and status updates that friends are creating on mutual friend pages as well as non-friend pages. It’s basically a feed of every single interaction that a user does on Facebook. Further, users will only have the Top News option to view on the wall and have to rely on the Facebook algorithm to dictate the most interesting stories.

If you have had any experience with the new live Facebook ticker, please share it in the comments below.
