Three easy ways to turn Facebook friends into fans

You've successfully created your Facebook business page but you can't seem to get the 'like" love flowing much past your family and a few close friends. If only that theory "build it and they will come" were actually true! Trust me, we have all been there! So how do you start getting people to like your new Facebook page? Just like in most situations, the best place to start is with your friends. Below I will share three easy ways to get your Facebook friends to become fans of your business page.

How to invite Facebook friends to Facebook business page

The first and most obvious way is to use the "invite your friends" feature when you are first going through the process of setting up your page. However, I find that often when this option is presented, your page isn't really at a sharing stage yet. You really want to make sure your page is fully set up and truly "likeable" before sending your friends there. You can make it likeable by adding a proper profile image (logo or headshot), eye-catching cover image (no contact info or calls-to-action allowed), complete business information (keyword rich text) and valuable content to share. I have found that some people don't realize they can continue to invite friends to like their page after the initial set up because the option isn't always that easy to find. The invite friends feature on a Facebook business page lives within your page admin but you will only see the option displayed when you visit your your page as "yourself" and you haven't switched over to "use Facebook as your page." (I know this can be a little confusing.) Once you visit your  page as yourself, you should see "Invite your friends" in the lower right box of your page admin (located above your cover image.)

Facebook employment link

The second way to move your friends to fans is to make sure your employment link on your Facebook personal profile is linked properly to your Facebook business page. This is actually one of the biggest mistakes I routinely see people making on Facebook. The link to your business/employment is located in prime real estate on your profile – the first line directly under your profile image.  What often happens is that people type in their employment but may not enter it the same as the title of their business page so it doesn't pull in the automatic link to the page and results in a link to a random Facebook community page that Facebook creates. To be sure your employment link is set up correctly, click on the link and if it goes to a page with blue briefcase for the profile image you need to adjust the name of your employment. You can do this by going to Update Info>>Work and Education and either add a new job or edit the one you have listed using the exact name of your business page. By making this one quick and easy adjustment you are sure to see an increase in your Facebook page likes in no time.

The third way to easily turn Facebook friends into fans is to occasionally share your business page posts on your personal profile. By doing this you expose your friends to seeing a link to your business page right in their newsfeed.

For best results in growing your Facebook business page, it truly helps to be as active as you can on your personal profile so you can connect and build solid personal relationships hat can ultimately lead to likes and engagement on your business page. The stronger your personal profile the stonger your business page!

This post features just 3 of the easiest ways I have found to turn Facebook friends into fans but there are certainly more.
