Timeline transforms Facebook to Lifebook

Take a SNEAK PEAK at the new Facebook Profile called “Timeline.” I have enabled mine and am having fun playing with it. Currently only those with developer status on Facebook have have access to set up the new Timeline. It is my understand the Timeline will be rolled out to everyone over the next couple of months. I had read at one point that the Timeline was going to be available on Sept. 29th, 2011 but it turns out that was erroneous information. The good new is that if you can wait for the Timeline to be rolled out, here are some easy instructions for enabling your Timeline now: http://on.mash.to/qQA8ZM. (You basically have to sign up as a developer and start the process to “create an app.”

As you can see from my screenshot, Timeline features a large cover image you can easily switch out. Under the cover image the timeline is set up in a two-column format displaying recent activity, tops stories from your friends, see the friends you’ve acquire are displayed per month, you can see where you have checked in each month since you were on Facebook. It is so fun to be able to scroll back to when you first started on Facebook. The timeline offers plenty of customization for what you want to see and what you don’t want to see.

I think the new Timeline has a beautiful layout and transforms from Facebook to “Lifebook.” I’m impressed with Facebook’s plan to help us keep our life story so easy to keep up to date and manage–like a modern day scrapbook and that that is seamlessly shared with friends and family.

Combined with the Facebook open graph apps, we are about to enter a whole new world of sharing and discovering news through friends. Everything from news, music, tv shows, videos, recipes, movies, you name it!

So as you can see I’m a big fan of timeline so far and I can’t wait to see all the new open graphs app integrations. Stay tuned…Facebook is changing social media forever and forcing all kinds of industries to rethink how they do business.
